What our guests say !

Lorna and David have done an excellent job with Le Cazal. We are all agreed that it is the best gite holiday we have had in France. The property is of a very high standard, the views are spectacular and Lorna and David are always available should you need any help. Highly recommended and we wish them all the best.

What can we say? Firstly thankyou for your welcome and hospitality. Secondly the accommodation and lastly the view ……. speechless. We have done very little but will return home well rested and with good happy memories of family time together. Thankyou xx
The Grindleys - August 2016

A thoroughly enjoyable week in tranquil and beautiful location. The standard of accommodation is simply excellent and David and Lorna are like meeting old friends. Many, many thanks for a lovely stay in stunning countryside with gorgeous views. A final note to say that the downstairs en suite bedroom was perfect for my elderly parents.

Bryant family – September 2016

Thankyou for a wonderful stay. The house was brilliant – really spacious and the pool was an absolute hit. As for recommendations for activities, we enjoyed the beach at Leucate and loved visiting Carcassonne on the way home. We also enjoyed Mirepoix, on market day (Monday – make sure you go in the morning as the stall holders pack up after lunch) and on non market days – much less busy and great to appreciate the pretty surroundings better. Perhaps, however, one of our best finds was the Parc aux Bamboos. Just a short 20 minute drive away and really beautiful. It’s a kind of cross between a garden and a park, a celebration of all kinds of bamboo. To be honest, I’m not normally the kind of person to be particularly diverted by different types of plant, but this was pretty special. Be sure to check the leaflet for opening days/times. Perfect for a picnic and general chill out.  All in all, a lovely stay, thankyou.

Simon and Meredith – June 2016

Superb accommodation, spacious and comfortable in every respect. Very well appointed, great views of the Pyrenees and attractive area with the charming town of Mirepoix so close. Probably the best of all gites we have found in France, additionally enhanced by Rosie and Treacle! Thankyou Lorna and David

Frazer and Kate – April 2016
What a beautiful place! The house is so comfortable and we loved seeing the Pyrenees from the window. To be surrounded by the mountains in the distance and to watch the snow melt gave us a sense of warmth and well-being. The walks provided the panoramic and the microscopic- including orchids, bugles, cuckoo flower, to mention a few. We shall treasure the memories.
Alan and Kathleen – April 2016

What can we say- this has been the most restfuland energetic holiday in a most beautiful gite. Thankyou for all you have done for us Lorna and David. We have loved every minute of our month here.  Xxx

Vraimemt parfait, on espère revenir bientôt!

Can I keep this a secret … no, it would not be fair to Lorna and David Cannell. This place is a gem, we had a wonderful stay for 4 weeks in April, with the most hospitable and caring hosts. Le Cazal is such a beautiful and authentic French Farm with the most lovely gites. The walks are fantastic, the gite was fantastic, the hosts fantastic; what else can we say, I would like to have stayed forever.

Thankyou so much for this wonderful stay t your beautiful house! We really enjoyed it very much. It’s just perfect! Very spacious, light, clean and with a superb view, also very great; the beautiful swimming pool. We’ve made a couple of nice walks in the environment and Mirepoix is a lovely town with nice restaurants. Also, our dog enjoyed it here a lot: so much space and freedom to walk around! 🙂  Thanks a lot for everything.

Nico Karin and Flip – October 2016

A week at the beginning of February could have been dismal but we we had sunny days and clear crisp nights so it was perfect. The living area faces south so it was bright all day long because of the patio and french windows and warm too. We only needed the wood stove in the evenings and it kept us nice and cosy. The property is attractive, comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped. The views to the Pyrenees are just fantastic. It all looks great in the photos but in reality, it is even better! Mirepoix is a lovely town and surprisingly lively for the time of year. The market on Monday is well worth a visit, if only to sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. Carcassonne is great, especially the castle. The drive to the Cathar castle at Queribus was as enjoyable as the castle itself. It was only a hop skip and jump from the Mediterranean so we drove there across country and back via the coast. We managed a couple of days skiing at Ax-les Thermes. Great place, inexpensive – make sure you ask for insurance to be added to your ski pass. We had a busy week but could just as easily stayed at Le Cazal enjoying the views with some good wine. Le Cazal in winter is fantastic so we are planning to return for a summer stay too.

John S - February 2016

This gite is in a superb setting, quite high up near the village of Manses, with wonderful views of the Pyranees. Lorna, the owner, gave us a very friendly welcome and told us about local dog walks for our dog Max. The gite was enormous and as we were just a couple we only used the downstairs which had a beautiful bedroom and ensuite shower room. There were a further three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs! The lounge and kitchen/dining room were huge and fully equipped. We had a great verandah where we spent most of our mornings and evenings. It was peaceful, hot, and with the views, who could ask for more.
We travelled quite a bit in the area as we are planning on retiring to France and wanted to get to know the area. I would recommend Mirepoix on Monday market day but get there early, it is also great for a drink/lunch/dinner etc. on any day of the week, sitting in the ancient square with all those fabulous buildings.

We travelled through the Pyrannees to Pas de la Casa in Andorra, a very scenic journey but the end result, the ski resort, looked quite drab and too commercialised, especially without snow!

We also had a very pleasant lunch at the cafe on Lac Montbel – the colour of the water being the bluest you have ever seen.
All in all I would recommend this gite without exception and the host Lorna, was very hospitable and welcoming.

Thanks again for a lovely stay.
